A hemorrhoid is an enlarged and swollen vein occurring inside, outside or around the anus. There are signs to determine if you have hemorrhoids on your anus: throbbing pain, itching or burning sensation, and protruding soft tissue lump outside your anus. Also, when you see bright red blood on your stool or on the toilet paper, the bleeding might be caused by hemorrhoids. There are home remedies for minor hemorrhoids. Here are some suggestions.
Take sitz baths. A sitz bath is a popular form of hydrotherapy and an effect home hemorrhoid cure. In doing this, the itching and swelling pain are lessened without the use of medicines. For this treatment, choose among a bathtub, shallow bucket or a sitz bath sit. The last option usually comes in plastic material with a solution bag and tube that continuously adds warm water during your therapy.
Fill up any of these containers with warm water. After that, sit on them for a minimum of 15 minutes. This can be done three times per day. After each session, do not forget to gently dry the submerged skin with a soft towel so that the affected area will not chafe. You might have heard of sitz baths that have salt in the water used, but do not attempt to do try that for your hemorrhoids. The saline solution can only aggravate your condition.
Petroleum jelly or zinc oxide paste works well with swelling pain reduction. Choose either cream and maintain usage. It is important to use just one as these creams have chemical components. When mixed, you might burn the anus area skin. In applying the cream, you need to carefully rinse the irritated area. Make sure that you only use tap water. Wipe the skin gently with a soft towel or washcloth. Do not use any scented material like tissue, body wash or soap in cleaning the anus area. Chemicals in these may cause further irritation. Dab a small amount on a cotton ball or bud and apply to the swollen area. Always keep the area dry and clean.
Another point to be aware of is your diet. Hemorrhoids can be caused by constipation, which is the result of insufficient fiber intake. Psyllium seeds and seed husks are a good source of dietary fiber, and will help you pass feces more easily. When your feces is softer, you are less likely to get hemorrhoids. At breakfast time, add a teaspoon of Psyllium seeds or husks to 8 ounces of water, and drink away. Do this for the first week. Come the second week, step it up by drinking another glass of the same at lunch. In the following weeks or until your bowel moves better, drink the mixture thrice a day. Do not take this with other fiber supplements, because too much fiber can lead to larger and therefore difficult-to-pass stools.
Other treatments include modifying posture when seated and other medications available over-the-counter. Also, avoid sitting for a long time, since this traps heat around the anus and this in turn increases the chances for skin irritation, chafing, and inflammation.
Other medications available for use are suppositories or pain relievers. Suppositories make passing poop easier, while pain relievers take some of the pain away.
Too much bleeding should call for the assistance of a doctor. In such cases, stop resorting to home remedies to prevent the situation from getting worse.
The last medication you might want to consider is a product called H Miracle. H Miracle was created a few years back by an ex sufferer of hemorrhoids called Holly Hayden. It has since gone on to become the top selling hemorrhoid treatment guide.
