Oral Health Conscious…

January 27, 2010 By: Master Cleanser Category: Articles

I am very conscious of my oral health also like the rest of you.  I read a lot about products that are safe and effective.  I have tried a lot and some products have impressed me but most of them upon research doesn’t really help and at times worsen the condition of your oral cavity.  I have been using mouthwash with great alcohol content and have found it really effective because of its strong minty taste that is left after rinsing.  I used it to shield me against bad breath and help me interact socially with everybody without being conscious of my breath.  All those years that I have been using the product I thought it was helping me, to my surprise my dentist told me that too much alcohol content in a mouthwash can cause dryness of the mouth, thus, making your mouth desirable environment for bacterial infestation

And as we all know when we make a desirable environment for the bacteria, we are encouraging growth and multiplication leading to an undesirable condition like bad breath.  Try therabreath and see if that helps at all.

Good thing I always consult with my dentist if prolonged use of some products wouldn’t harm me.  Another product I came to love is the toothpaste with whiteners.  After more than a month or two of use I had teeth sensitivity attacks which are very unusual to me.  I visited my dentist and when she found out I am using toothpaste with whiteners. She informed me that toothpaste with whiteners have acid which can actually weaken the enamel, it causes thinning and thus exposing my teeth to more harm.

Your gum tissue health is also very important, without it, you could be headed for trouble.  Try a portable oral irrigator or when not travelling, consider the hydrofloss.

Save yourself from embarrassment, use the best products for your oral cavity.  Not everything that tastes right is right for you, you have to research and find out what’s safe and effective.

Why Do Some People Get Broken Teeth?

December 31, 2009 By: Master Cleanser Category: Articles

There is an incredible misconception that you must have broken and crumbled teeth and receding gums as a consequence of aging. Is this really the truth?

I remember a coworker who broke a tooth while eating. The tooth split in half on some morsel of food that may or may not have been very hard. Even in the worse case scenario a piece of the tooth may have chipped, but for the tooth to split in half means there must have been some underlying weakness that allowed this to happen.

Our teeth are very important to us. We need them to eat – that is obvious. But we also need them to insure that our jaw does not deteriorate. You can lose bone mass when the jaw has no tooth to support. In addition, a lost tooth can cause your teeth to shift creating an uneven bite which in turn can cause uneven wear and tear on your teeth.

Therabreath makes a line of products that may be helpful to your dental health.

Oramd is an essential oil blend that is used as toothpaste.

The Hydro Floss is an oral irrigator – irrigators can help you in your efforts to reduce plaque build up between office visits

I will theorize for the rest of this article. I would speculate that my friend’s problem may have had two components. One would be nutritional and the other would be repetitive failure to maintain proper pH of the mouth.

Much depends on both – as I continue to speculate. You can imagine the teeth as being made of calcium and phosphate ions. When there is a more acidic environment those ions can be dissolved or ‘pulled’ right out of the enamel of your teeth, thereby weakening them. You could imagine that over time, this could be a problem.

Energy drinks, coffee drinks and fruit juices can all lower the pH of the environment in your mouth, making it more acidic. What if you consistently were to raise that pH back up after eating or drinking an acidic food or beverage?

Satisfying FeedBack on Dental Health Book

stop gingivitis

Today, I received a very gratifying phone call. It was from a man who has read my book on gum disease. He said that it was very good and that it has helped him a lot. His gum tissue is becoming healthier, he said it is really working.

I can not begin to tell you how important it is for an author to get this kind of feedback. This is particularly true for a non-fiction work. The topic is no game and it is not the construction of a fantasy world. Therefore, when people get real world benefit, it is very satisfying.

This man told me about how he had solved his problems with heart disease and glaucoma in the past. He is very alternative health oriented and quite aware of what is out there. We talked a good deal about health care and how it is delivered and how very valid and powerful therapies seem to be buried from the mainstream.

Things are changing however. With the Internet it is possible to spread knowledge that would have remained in very isolated pockets in the past. However, to create a paradigm shift is not something that is easily accomplished.

It takes the efforts of many, many people most of the time. Unfortunately, that old saying: "You don’t know what you don’t know", is very true.

This is one of the major drawbacks to being human: You cannot see or know it all. That means we all can easily become the victims of our own lack of knowledge. I believe that the book, Zhuan Falun, touches on this truth in it’s opening statement.

Some of the tools that I have found useful in my struggle against gum disease are the Hydro Floss oral irrigator and a water ozonator. When you purchase a HydroFloss be sure to shop around for the best deal.

Should You Use Dental Tape Or Dental Floss?

September 18, 2009 By: Master Cleanser Category: Articles

ozone generator

Whether you decide to use dental tape or dental floss, using one or the other is importanl to your oral health. Flossing and using tape will help to keep your teeth and gums healthy. This can work to prevent or help end gum disease such as gingivitis and the more advanced periodontitis. The latter is an especially damaging problem, as it can result in tooth loss if left untreated.

The choice between dental floss or tape is a personal one. It all depends on which you like best. It depends, as well, on which you feel works best for you. The important thing is that you use one or the other each day, in conjunction with regular brushing. An oral irrigator is also a great tool.

The main advantage of dental tape, is that it is bigger and thicker. In my opinion, just the pure physics of it, makes it the clear winner to do a better job.

You are, of course, supposed to brush your teeth at least twice a day. Some dentists will tell you to floss twice a day as well, while others say that once is fine. Typically, if you have sensitive gums, you likely have a problem. Healthy gums are not sensitive. Another good tool is an ozone generator. With this tool, you can make an oxygenated mouthwash.

Now, what are the differences between these two dental tools? Well, as most of us know, floss is a thin, waxed or unwaxed string substance which fits between the teeth. It is ideal for getting pieces of food and plaque from between them.

Tape tends to be wider and thicker. Floss may be a bit thin. That can be a problem for people whose teeth are closely crowded together. Floss tends to fit more easily between close together teeth. Some people even say that it might remove stains from the teeth.

Whether you decide to use tape of floss, make sure you do it regularly. Further more, if doing this makes you gums bleed, talk to your dentist right away. Bleeding whilst flossing is often a sign of gum disease.

The Benefits and Detractors of Xylitol…

September 08, 2009 By: Master Cleanser Category: Articles

One of the amazing hidden ’secrets’ of this century is xylitol. It is truly astonishing on two points. This five carbon sugar can help to prevent both tooth decay and gum disease because the bacteria that eat it cannot utilize xylitol as they can glucose (six carbon table sugar).

The second fact to know about xylitol is that it has been both well known in one country and almost unheard of in many other countries at the same time. This astounds me a bit because it demonstrates the limited nature of our human awareness very clearly.

Let us take a closer look. Xylitol has been used and well documented to reduce the incidence of dental disease in Finland for over five decades now.  Yet here in the United States and many other countries you will hardly hear of a dentist that promotes it. There are a few, but they are not many.

How can something as beneficial as xylitol, in today’s world, be so unknown to most people despite the fact that Finlanders have been using it since the second world war when regular sugar became scarce.  Later, the dentists and doctors of Finland discovered that their levels of dental health improved due to the use of xylitol as a substitue for sugar. Another item worthy of renewed interest is the
oral irrigator.

Xylitol has one third the calories of an comparable amount of table sugar. It does not promote tooth decay or the growth of the bacteria that cause gum disease or bad breath. It does not require insulin to be metabolized and therefore is of particular interest to diabetics.

Few things in this world are perfect and xylitol does have some drawbacks. Pets should not be given xylitol. While a human being has a special metabolic pathway to digest xylitol, many pets do not. Therefore it can be harmful to pets and can even kill them.

You can learn more about xylitol at Xylitol.org. There is plenty of research and information about xylitol there. Ora md is different in that it is an essential oil mix for helping to fight dental disease.

We tend to think that if something is good, that everyone should be aware of it.  Yet, as this example shows, that is not always the case. There are so many things we still do not know.  Perhaps we should resolve to reach further beyond our limited awareness and discover the truth of this world and the universe that is around us.
